Wedding insurance? It could never happen to me!

Nobody ever likes to think about worst-case scenarios relating to their wedding and as a result, there may be a tendency to think of wedding insurance as something that only pessimists talk about.

The reality

Unfortunately, no wedding is immune from problems. Things can and do go wrong – even with the best-planned events.

Venues can suddenly suffer troubles that make them unavailable.  The Bride or Groom may be ill and unable to go through with the ceremony on the day or perhaps the bridal dress is accidentally damaged and needs emergency repair.

There may be many other things that can go wrong.  Some may be minor, if expensive, distractions to the joy of the day. Others may be catastrophic and result in far more serious emotional and financial impact.

Wedding cover

Of course, no insurance for weddings can insulate you from the stress and emotional trauma that may accompany glitches in your wedding plans. Only you may be able to decide how that is dealt with.

Yet inevitably, you may be forced to start to think about the financial effects and how you will cope.

Having the appropriate cover in place may provide you with the peace of mind that your financial interests are protected.

The cover

The cover available will vary depending upon the policy you have chosen.

A wide range of circumstances will typically be included but it may be advisable to check the exclusions also. For example, some wedding insurance policies may not include cover for cancellation due to redundancy.
